Mona Mourshed has led engagements across the world in Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East, and the United States, supporting school systems and vocational higher-education institutions to improve students’ skills, their chances of finding jobs, and their day-to-day lives. Her most recent work, focused on youth unemployment, is unlocking the global conundrum of high levels of joblessness among young people and a shortage of job seekers with critical skills. In order to tackle this looming global issue, Mona has assisted in the design, implementation, and reforming of strategies to improve student outcomes in schools; one program nearly doubling literacy rates to 86 percent at the primary-school level in four years.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
